A look back at “El Norte”

Hello Cyberlandia, hope you’re all enjoying a lazy Sunday. We’re featuring a video interview of Gregory Nava at an event celebrating the 25th anniversary of the making of El Norte at Azucar Mojito Bar in Downtown San Jose, 2008.

El Norte, a film about two Guatemalan natives’ journey to the states, garnered Nava an Oscar nod for Best Original Screenplay – the first independent filmmaker to have been nominated.

The film is also protected by the United States National Film Registry Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”

Here’s a trailer of the film, which we highly recommend watching.
